Boneheads

Once I was in an open zoo.
The rutting season made each gnu,
goat, antelope, and caribou
beat bony heads in loud tattoo.

For miles a stupid cranial thud
was heard as every horny stud
banged skulls, their nostrils flecked with blood,
while egos battled in the mud.

The cows and does stood sweetly by
the ruffians prepared to die
to win their love and satisfy
a need to be the toughest guy.
